Norfolk and Western Class J steam locomotive No.611, is a renowned piece of American railroad history. The Class J locomotives were built by the Norfolk and Western Railway (N&W) at its Roanoke Shops in Virginia between 1941 and 1950. They are considered some of the most powerful and technologically advanced steam locomotives ever built, representing the pinnacle of steam technology.
