South Western Railway Island Line Class 483 No. 483006 trundles over the Solent along Ryde Pier working the 2U10 07.18 Shanklin to Ryde Pier Head service on 11 August 2020. The seaside town of Ryde - the largest on the Isle of Wight dominates the background. The Class 483 EMUS (originally built as 1938 London Underground tube stock) have served the Island Line on the Isle of Wight since 1989, and were the oldest trains operating in everyday passenger service in the UK at the time of their withdrawal on January 3 2021. They have since been replaced by VivaRail Class 484s, which are recycled London Underground 'D78' Stock with trains restarting on November 1 2021. 483006 is now preserved at Cynheidre Colliery on the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway.
