LNER Class Y11 was a class of petrol powered 0-4-0 locomotives built by Motor Rail & Tram Car Company Limited under their Simplex brand and introduced in the years 1919–1925, operating after its formation in 1922 on the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER). Their British Railways numbers were 15097-15099.

A 42-wagon freight train hauled by Garratt locomotive No 47972, at Lickey Incline near Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, March 1950. The Incline, over two miles long with a gradient of 1:37.7 is the steepest continuous section of track on any of Britain's main lines. The Garratt locomotive had been built for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway is assisted by another Garratt which had once served the London & North Eastern Railway. Along the Incline, the engines stalled and had to be rescued by a 0-10-0 banking engine, nicknamed 'Big Bertha'.
