New R211s on the North Channel Swing Bridge.

The first 10-car train of Kawasaki built MTA New York City Transit R211A subway cars (4060-4064/4065-4069) descends from the North Channel Swing Bridge on the IND Rockaway Line at Hamilton Beach in Queens, NY during the afternoon of October 12th, 2021. The train is returning to Pitkin Yard after several hours of testing on the Rockaway Test Track at Broad Channel.

With the introduction of this new model of subway railcar, several tests must be performed before the rest of the huge order is built. One of these tests involves running the new train back and forth on the 2-mile long Rockaway Test Track at the Broad Channel flats testing braking, propulsion and various other mechanical features.
