Opened this day in 1880 as Manchester Central Sation. Roof arch 210 feet wide, 550 feet long. Roof alone weight 2,400 tons. It 3hours and 40 to get to London.
Station closed 1969, sold for a car park, bought in 1978 and reopened as the GMEX exhibition hall in 1986.
