HST 43 102 has been put back into classic Intercity 'swallow' livery. Derby.

The much-loved High Speed Trains will soon be retired after 39 years of service on the Midland Main Line, making way for newer fleets to join East Midlands Railway (EMR) in time for the May 2021 timetable change.

HST Power Car 43102 famously broke the Intercity World Speed Record in November 1987, when it reached 148.5mph between Northallerton and York during a test a run.

Despite being formally renumbered to 43302 by its previous operator, it will now regain its original number (43102) and will be redecorated with the memorable livery it had when it broke the record.
