A steam locomotive that was hidden away for more than 45 years in the grounds of a convent will be unveiled at a heritage railway in Norfolk this spring, after its rebuild. The Hunslet Newstead saddle was built in 1956.

This was the sad sight at North Blyth on the morning of an otherwise sunny day. 60024 was being shunted onto the line of locos awaiting the cutter's torch at Hughes Bolckow's scrap yard had LNER Class A4 60034 Lord Faringdon ready for scrapping after having spent the final lease of life working from Aberdeen Ferryhill on the Glasgow '3-hour' expresses.
